Invar® 36 Alloy Applications
(Also known as Invar, NILO® 36, Pernifer® 36, and Invar Steel)
Invar Alloy is a low expansion alloy that exhibits extremely low expansion around ambient temperatures and is often used where minimum expansion is required. Invar is a Nickel Iron alloy with 36% Nickel, and the remaining balance Iron. Its minimal expansion over ambient temperatures, makes this alloy useful in many applications especially where high dimensional stability is required Some of the applications of Invar Alloy include:
- Advanced composite molds for aerospace industry
- Bimetal thermostats
- Clock balance wheels
- Containers for LNG tankers
- CRT applications: Shadow masks, deflection clips and electron gun components
- Dimensionally stable instruments and optical devices
- Echo boxes and filters for mobile telephones
- Electrical circuit breakers
- High voltage transmission lines
- Magnetic shielding
- Metrology devices
- Pendulum clocks
- Positioning devices
- Precision condenser blades
- Radar and microwave cavity resonators
- Scientific instruments
- Seals, spacers and specialized frames
- Small electrical transformers
- Special electronic housings
- Temperature regulators
- Transfer lines for LNG
