Super Invar® 32-5 Alloy Applications
Super Invar Alloy is a low expansion alloy that is designed to provide minimum thermal expansion at room temperatures, and thermal expansion properties less than those of Invar Alloy when used in the -67/203°F (-55/95°C) temperature range. While Invar Alloy compositions is 36% Nickel, and the remaining balance Iron, the composition of Super Invar Alloy is 32% Nickel, 5.5% Cobalt and the remaining balance Iron. Super Invar Alloy’s minimal expansion over this range of temperatures, makes this alloy useful in many applications including structural components and substrates in instrument systems requiring precision measurements. Some of the applications of Super Invar Alloy include:
- Optical instruments
- Telescopes
- Laser instruments and equipment
- Ring laser gyroscopes
- Laser benches
- Positioning devices
- Metrology devices
- Scientific instruments
- Structural components and supports for optical and laser systems
- Applications that require lower expansivity than Invar
Are you using Super Invar Alloy for an application other than any of those listed above? If so, we’d like to hear from you. Please call one of our customer service experts. We may be able to assist you with your Invar Alloys needs, or we may be able to introduce you to some of the other metals and alloys we stock.
